Susan began her journey in photography in 1999 during her sophomore year of high school. She took a photography elective class to get free information for her mom and aunt (who wanted to start a portrait business.) Once Susan made her very first photogram in the darkroom, she was hooked for life and immersed herself completely and fully to photography. Although she had original plans on becoming a marine biologist, she quickly changed her plans to become either a portrait photographer or a photography teacher. Since then, she has worked for multiple photography studios, making memories for hundreds of families (she even had her own studio in the mall at one point.) Susan’s artistic work includes more conceptual ideas that sometimes involve nostalgia of centuries past as well as exploring the idea of what makes a home. She enjoys life with her daughter Monica and their cats, Princess and Fluffy. Susan earned her BFA in Photography at CSU East Bay where she also earned her teaching credentials. She is now back at CSU East Bay earning her Masters in eLearning. She has been a high school photography teacher for Richmond High for the past 4 years, and is sharing the magic and joy of photography. She's loving every minute of it!
